Miller Electric Welding Automation
Miller Electric Welding Automation provides a number of training programs to a variety of manufacturing end users and welding distributors. Each of its business units offer programs for specific welding equipment. Its Manufacturing Industries Group faced a particular challenge of registering and tracking customers from all over the U.S. for highly technical welding equipment and the corresponding training. Managing the phone calls and paperwork became a full-time job.
That job fell upon Kevin Summers, who estimated that he was spending up to four hours per registration, from the initial contact through the final collection of fees.
Finding a better way
Summers figured there had to be a better way, and found it in Learning Stream and its automated registration management system. “Our whole paradigm shifted,” he said. “No more phone calls, and no more faxing in requests and manually entering them into a spreadsheet. Customers visit our website, click on the training links, fill in the information, pay for the training, receive confirmation e-mails with invoice receipts and receive our information about hotels and travel arrangements automatically.”
From four hours to five minutes
Summers says he now spends five minutes or less (usually on printing the class roster) with registrants who use Learning Stream and the credit card payment option. “It allowed me to automate our registration process and helps me maintain my productivity,” he said.
